Our mission is to partner with individuals, families, and the community to foster hope, wellness and recovery, and to restore quality of life by addressing mental health needs, substance use and social and emotional issues.
Company History
CoveCare Center (Formerly known as Putnam Family & Community Services, Inc.), created in
1997, has roots, w h i c h date back to 1958, with the founding of the Putnam Mental Health Clinic for Children. Responding to the needs of the community, the clinic expanded, and, in accordance with the Community Mental Health Act of 1963, the Putnam County Mental Health Clinic was formed. Its goal, consistent with the current goals, was “for the effective delivery of mental health services.” In 1974 and 1980, treatment of alcohol and substance abuse, respectively, were added to the treatment of mental health issues. Deinstitutionalization prompted the formation of a continuing day treatment program in 1973, while case management services were initiated in 1979. Throughout these years of expansion, the clinic responded to the needs of the community through cooperative arrangement with other agencies and with the assistance of government mandates.
In the tradition, Putnam County Mental Health Services responded to government initiatives for privatization creating Putnam Family & Community Services, Inc. Managed care and the need for a continuum of care helped provide the impetus for alliance with community agencies, which intensifies the cooperative provision of a full range of services. Our historic mental health values and practices provide a strong foundation for flexibility in meeting the service need of individuals, families, and the community.
