About the Role
The Co-Occurring Recovery Specialist provides recovery support services to individuals navigating both mental health and substance use challenges.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate recovery capital, life skills and wellness groups both in the community and at the Recovery Center.
- Empower participants through self-advocacy and informed decision-making.
- Provide one-on-one and group peer support, sharing lived experience when appropriate.
- Support participants in identifying strengths, setting goals, and creating personalized recovery plans (e.g., WRAP®).
- Bridge connections to community resources, natural supports, and multiple recovery pathways.
- Assist with accessing benefits, social supports, and recreational opportunities.
- Maintain accurate documentation and database records.
- Engage in supervision, team meetings, professional development, and ongoing peer support training.
- Participate in overdose prevention training, tabling, and community events.
- Pursue CARC or CRPA certification, with training costs covered within six months of hire.
Requirements
Qualifications
- NY Certified Peer Specialist (Provisional certification accepted).
- Knowledge of mental health systems, services, and recovery pathways.
- Experience supporting individuals with co-occurring challenges in community settings.
- Respect for each person’s unique recovery journey.
- Commitment to pursuing CARC or CRPA certification, with training costs fully covered by the organization within six months of hire.
